Sahr-e-Seer began as an examination of my experience as a first-generation Afghan-American, the intricate dynamics that existed within my familial household, and the nuances surrounding my cultural identity. I am currently digging into the compelling and contradictory social lives of Afghan-Americans in New York. I traverse the edges of lush scenes, reclaiming my agency in a space that has never quite belonged to me, documenting moments of tenderness and performativity suffused with the fleeting touch of American opulence.
